PTSD:

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is caused by exposure to a traumatic event, which is a threat to one´s life or physical integrity that is accompanied by feelings of intense fear, helplessness or horror. Symptoms of the disorder include flashbacks, avoidance of usual activities, insomnia, irritability, poor concentration, and an exaggerated startle response. Major biologic findings in individuals with PTSD have been changes in brain activity and blood cortisol levels. We hope that, by this research, better and more effect treatment may be designed for our returning service men and women who have been exposed to combat.
